Du lịch tàu biển là loại hình du lịch đang có xu hướng phát triển mạnh mẽ trong những năm gần đây. Tuy nhiên, du lịch tàu biển thường có hải trình dài ngày, gây ra nhiều thách thức đối với môi trường. Để hạn chế những thách thức môi trường từ du lịch tàu biển, nhiều biện pháp đang được khuyến khích áp dụng như sử dụng nhiên liệu thân thiện với môi trường, áp dụng công nghệ xử lý cuối đường ống, áp dụng công nghệ tiên tiến trong xử lý nước thải, tái chế chất thải rắn và không sử dụng sản phẩm nhựa dùng một lần. Đây được xem là những giải pháp cần thiết để phát triển du lịch tàu biển bền vững dưới góc độ môi trường.
