Social security policies for the elderly in the context of population aging in Vietnam: Current situation and solutons

Abstract
This paper presented and analyzed the current social security policies for the elderly in Vietnam, including their achievements and shortcomings. Based on the paper’s findings, some solutions are proposed to improve these policies to ensure social security when Vietnam is experiencing the population aging issue. The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs should review the current social security policies for the elderly and comprehensively evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and gaps of these policies. Then, the ministry will proposes solutions to the government to gradually amend and improve the system of social security policies for the elderly group, including medical care, social protection, appropriate employment, and cultural, sports, and tourism activities.
