Organic solvent nanofiltration for herbal extract purification and solvent recovery in Vietnam: A short review

Tóm tắt

The separation and purification of herbal extracts often involve thermal distillation, which may degrade heat-sensitive bioactive compounds. Conventional methods, including distillation and chromatography, can also require substantial energy and large volumes of organic solvents. Organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) offers a potential alternative by enabling separation at relatively low temperatures and facilitating solvent recovery. As research and industrial activity in herbal extraction expands in Vietnam, OSN may support more efficient and continuous processing. This short review examines OSN membranes and their potential applications in purifying herbal extracts and recovering solvents in Vietnam, while outlining the challenges and opportunities associated with their wider adoption.
