Effects of digital work strain and foreign language anxiety on turnover intention among young Vietnamese workers
Published: September 16, 2026
Abstract
The rapid expansion of global virtual work (GVW) has exposed young employees to continuous digital demands and pressure to communicate in foreign languages. Based on the Job Demands - Resources framework, this study examines the effects of digital work strain and foreign language anxiety on work engagement and turnover intention among young Vietnamese workers in GVW environments. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze data from 328 young Vietnamese employees working remotely for foreign organizations. A key contribution of the study is the empirical refinement of digital work strain into two dimensions: instantaneous digital strain and anticipatory digital insecurity.
