Assessing the impact of carbon tax on Vietnam’s manufacturing industry
Published: July 26, 2026
Abstract
Carbon taxation is an important fiscal instrument aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering a green economy. While many countries have adopted carbon taxes as part of their sustainable development strategies, implementing such policies poses significant challenges for the manufacturing sector, particularly in developing economies like Vietnam. This study analyzes the potential impacts of a carbon tax on Vietnam’s manufacturing industry, focusing on production costs, competitiveness, international trade, and technological innovation. Based on these findings, the study proposes solutions to help Vietnamese enterprises adapt effectively to carbon tax policies within the context of global economic integration.
