Xơ dừa, một phụ phẩm nông nghiệp dồi dào tại Việt Nam, đang ngày càng được quan tâm như một vật liệu xây dựng bền vững. Mặc dù các nghiên cứu trước đây đã chứng minh khả năng hấp thụ âm thanh vượt trội của vật liệu này, đặc tính cách âm của nó vẫn chưa được khảo sát đầy đủ. Nghiên cứu này tiến hành đánh giá thực nghiệm độ suy giảm truyền âm (Transmission Loss, TL) của các tấm xơ dừa với độ dày từ 2,5 đến 15 mm trong dải tần số từ 200 đến 4.500 Hz. Kết quả cho thấy giá trị TL nhìn chung thấp, dao động từ 0 đến 2 dB, với một số đỉnh cộng hưởng cục bộ xuất hiện ở các tần số trung bình. Việc tăng độ dày tấm giúp cải thiện tính ổn định của đáp ứng TL nhưng chỉ mang lại sự cải thiện hạn chế về khả năng cách âm, chủ yếu do cấu trúc xốp và mật độ bề mặt thấp của vật liệu. Do đó, các tấm xơ dừa không phù hợp để sử dụng như lớp cách âm độc lập, nhưng lại có tiềm năng đáng kể khi được sử dụng như lớp hấp thụ âm hoặc lõi xốp trong các hệ thống âm học đa lớp. Nghiên cứu này góp phần mở rộng hiểu biết về hiệu suất âm học của xơ dừa và thúc đẩy phát triển các vật liệu xây dựng sinh học bền vững.
