Abstract
The buyer’s payment obligation in a contract for the sale of goods is a fundamental legal element that ensures fairness and transparency in commercial transactions. In Vietnam, the legal framework governing this obligation is relatively comprehensive, primarily established through the 2015 Civil Code, the 2005 Commercial Law, and related guiding documents. However, challenges remain in practice, including delayed payments, limited transparency, and difficulties in resolving disputes. This study examines the theoretical foundations and current legal provisions surrounding payment obligations, and evaluates their practical implementation. Based on this analysis, the study proposes several solutions to enhance the legal framework and enforcement efficiency, including improving regulatory clarity, strengthening payment security mechanisms, promoting the application of digital technologies, and increasing legal awareness among stakeholders.
