40.An optimized smart home system for single-story houses in Vietnam using Zigbee and MQTT protocols

Abstract

This study presents the development of a smart home system specifically designed for single-story houses in Vietnam. The system integrates multiple control components, including relays, switches, environmental sensors, and energy monitoring modules capable of measuring voltage, current, and power consumption. The proposed architecture employs Zigbee for local wireless communication and the MQTT protocol for remote management through a central G-Hub, powered by an ESP32 microcontroller operating on FreeRTOS. Experimental validation on a physical prototype demonstrates that the system enables flexible, multi-point control while enhancing safety through the use of a 5V control voltage instead of the conventional 220V. In addition, the system offers improved aesthetic integration and maintains cost competitiveness compared with traditional electrical installations.
