Application of unmanned aerial vehicles for search and rescue missions
Published: July 5, 2026
Abstract
This study presents the application of a multi-drone system in search-and-rescue operations, emphasizing its role in enhancing situational awareness, operational coordination, and emergency response efficiency. Built upon a centralized control software platform, the proposed system enables real-time monitoring of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operational status, management of mission areas through digital maps, acquisition of visual data from the field, and coordination of resources throughout the search process. The solution adopts an integrated approach that combines a control interface, digital mapping technologies, and data-processing tools to improve observation capabilities, mission planning, and on-site response management. Initial experimental results demonstrate that the system effectively supports wide-area surveillance and search-and-rescue activities while facilitating more efficient operational coordination. The findings further indicate that the proposed framework provides a practical foundation for the continued development and refinement of multi-drone systems for real-world emergency response applications
