Selecting logistics service providers for retail enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City using the analytic hierarchy process

Abstract

Selecting a logistics service provider (LSP) directly affects the costs, speed, and service quality of retail enterprises, making an objective evaluation method essential. This study applies the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to develop an evaluation framework and rank LSPs for retail enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. The framework comprises five main criteria and 25 subcriteria, with weights determined through pairwise comparisons using Saaty’s scale. The results indicate that cost is the most important criterion. DHL receives the highest priority, followed by J&T Express and Giao Hang Nhanh. The study provides a transparent decision-making tool to help retail enterprises optimize operating costs.
