Laws on water resource information control in selected countries and lessons for Vietnam

Abstract
Amid climate change, increasing water demand, and declining water resources in many countries, establishing mechanisms for collecting, sharing, and managing water resource information is essential to ensuring water security and sustainable water governance. This study examines laws governing water resource information control in Australia, Singapore, and Israel, focusing on legal foundations, institutional management models, data-sharing mechanisms, responsibilities of relevant actors, and sanctions for violations. Based on comparison with Vietnamese law, the study proposes recommendations to improve the legal framework for water resource information control, thereby enhancing water resource governance and supporting digital transformation in Vietnam’s water resource management sector.
