Secondary gifted education models in Western countries and implications for Vietnam

Published: January 14, 2025

Abstract

This study explores the importance of a supportive learning environment for gifted children, which includes adequate physical facilities, specialized curricula, and teaching methods that challenge and encourage them to pursue their potential. It highlights how cultural differences in educational methods, programs, and models can lead to varying outcomes in gifted education. While some argue that focusing on gifted students may exacerbate inequalities and that these students can thrive independently, this perspective overlooks the value of specialized education. The study discusses the relevance of specialized schools for gifted children, specifically examining secondary education models in several Western countries and drawing lessons for Vietnam's educational system.
