Adding notation to UML use case specification to facilitate the generation of test cases and UI prototypes
Published: July 29, 2026
Abstract
Generating test cases and user interface (UI) prototypes should be done in the beginning phase of software development processes because they are useful to validate and confirm software requirements between the developer and the client. These activities are often repeated many times whenever there is a change in software requirements. If these activities are done manually, it is very difficult for the developer to create a large number of test cases and make prototypes quickly at low costs. Automating test suite generation and UI prototyping generation is a solution for this problem. This paper proposes an approach to add notations to the UML Use Case specification to automatically generate test cases and UI prototypes. This approach is highly practical and effective in the software development process of companies.
