61. An Overview on Seismic Resistant Techniques in the Design and Construction of High-Rise Buildings
Published: July 28, 2026
Abstract
Earthquake is a phenomenon of shaking the Earth's crust that can cause the collapse of
structures, threaten human life and health. Major earthquakes in history, and the earthquakes in
Turkey, and Syria in February 2023 have shown the significant risks and severe impacts of
earthquakes.
To minimize the harmful effects of earthquakes, many scientific studies on seismic resistance
have been proposed and applied, such as the use of seismic-isolated devices and vibration
reduction devices, and the use of materials-structures that absorb and dissipate energy.
This paper provides an overview on research results about seismic resistance, and its
application in designing, and constructing high-rise buildings.
