Bài viết này trình bày lợi ích, các bước thiết kế và thực hiện phương pháp đánh giá tác động thông qua thí nghiệm ngẫu nhiên có đối chứng. Những lưu ý và hạn chế của phương pháp cũng được nêu rõ nhằm giới thiệu một phương pháp nghiên cứu cho kết quả đáng tin cậy phục vụ cho việc ra quyết định và các chính sách thúc đẩy áp dụng công nghệ mới trong sản xuất nông nghiệp.
